
Q: Where did the name First Watch come from? A: The restaurant’s name inspiration has a nautical reference, referring to the first shift of the day. Every day at First Watch, we begin at the crack of dawn, slicing fresh fruit and vegetables and whipping up our French toast batter from scratch.
Q: What is the menu like, and can you tell me about your hours of operation? A: First Watch Restaurant is a daytime dining establishment, open from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. We specialize in unique breakfast, brunch and lunch creations – freshly prepared to order, along with traditional favorites, such as pancakes, waffles, soups and sandwiches.
Q: How long has First Watch been, around and where was the first restaurant? A: First Watch started in California, with the first restaurant opening in Pacific Grove in 1983. That original restaurant became a popular spot and word began to spread quickly. Fulfilling a desire to live in Florida, partner Ken Pendery – First Watch’s current President and CEO – moved the company’s headquarters to the Sarasota/Bradenton area in 1986.

A: Site selection is based on a number of factors, including residential and employment densities, co-tenancy, daily needs, excellent visibility to the street and ample customer parking.
