First Watch fans write to us all the time, asking about that ah-mazing signature thick-cut whole grain artisan bread. You know, the one we serve with all of our omelets and hashes, our A.M. Superfoods Bowl, and underneath our heaping smashed avocado for our Avocado Toast. In fact, so many of you have been asking about it that we caved, and decided to share our secrets!
The mouth-watering whole grain bread you’ve enjoyed in our restaurants comes from our friends at Orlando Baking Company in Cleveland, Ohio. It’s a unique recipe that Orlando made exclusively for First Watch, which makes them one of our very favorite partners!
The fluffy multigrain goodness all started nearly 150 years ago in Castel di Sangro, Italy, where the first Orlando family bakery is still in operation today. In 1904, part of the family moved to Cleveland and re-established Old World ways of baking European classics – and we’re so glad they did!
Today, the company’s 250,000 square foot state-of-the-art Cleveland facility is equipped with 9 production lines, using the most modern baking equipment available to create Old World European taste and consistency. Five generations later, by combining state-of-the-art technology with the finest ingredients, they’re still able to bake the most authentic and best tasting specialty breads you’ll find anywhere.
As if that’s not impressive enough, here’s something that’s a little hard to swallow: Orlando Baking Company makes 2,000 loaves of bread per hour. *Mic drop*
We know that you’re thinking – That’s all fantastic, but how can I get a loaf if the bread is made exclusively for First Watch? Well, since we love you so much, we’ve made loaves of the bread available for purchase at every First Watch restaurant! Just ask your server or manager, and you’ll be going home with Orlando Baking Company’s finest.
