Trident Seafoods

At First Watch, we understand that people want to know what they’re eating and where it comes from. Food is fuel, and it’s only natural to want the best for ourselves, our families and our planet.

That’s why we partner with Trident Seafoods to serve only the best Wild Alaska Seafood. You see, a couple years ago, Chef Shane decided to add a new Eggs Benedict to our menu. Of course he wanted to source only the best ingredients for the dish in order to provide our customers with the highest quality culinary masterpiece. After quite a bit of research (and taste-testing…), he chose Trident Seafood’s Wild Alaska Smoked Sockeye Salmon (Say that five times fast!). Why?

Trident Seafoods’ fishing is anchored in the belief that protecting the oceans is vital. For them, sustainability is more than a badge or certification, it is an investment – not just for this season or the next, but for future generations. That’s why Trident Seafoods aspires to go beyond the letter of the law because they care for this resource in a way that ensures abundance, not just sustainability.

In addition to partnering with independent fishermen in Alaska, Trident also has its own fleet of fishing vessels that are skippered by only the most experienced captains. The folks at Trident live by three core principles – community, stewardship and pristine protein. Last year, Chef Shane had a chance to visit the Trident Seafoods folks, learn about the industry, spend a few nights on a boat, go whale watching and catch some delectable Halibut and Salmon. Check out some photos from his trip!

Every day, fishermen, scientists, conservationists, and state, federal and international organizations work together to responsibly manage their fisheries and care for their waters. Alaska’s fisheries meet the criteria of the most comprehensive and respected fisheries management guidelines in the world – the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries.

Now that you’re seafood experts, you’re probably wondering what dishes at First Watch contain this tasty Wild Alaska Smoked Sockeye Salmon. Well, it all started with our Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict, which has become a permanent fixture on our menu, but Chef Shane didn’t stop there. He love experimenting with this great fish, so sometimes you’ll be able to sample it different ways on our seasonal menus too!
