Q: What exactly does “First Watch” mean anyway?

A: Since the majority of our customers are not sailors, pirates or sea-farin’ scallywags, we seem to get this question a lot. A “first watch” is a nautical term that refers to the very first shift of the day. And if you ask us, it’s the best shift of the day. That’s because come the crack of dawn, we’re slicing and juicing fresh fruit and vegetables and whipping up our French toast batter from scratch, just for you.

Q: What are First Watch’s hours of operation?

A: First Watch serves delicious, made-to-order Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily at most of our locations. Some open even earlier! We are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Q: Wait a second… You guys don’t serve dinner?

A: We’re up way too early to bother with all that dinner business. Besides, we’re known as the Daytime Café for a reason. Just give our unique and fresh made-to-order entrées a try and we think you will agree – breakfast is the new dinner.

Q: What are some First Watch favorites?

A: You gotta try our award-winning Quinoa Power Bowls. Imagine hot, protein-packed quinoa mixed with fresh, house-roasted vegetables, all-natural chicken, fresh herbs and cheese. We’re also known for a little brunch creation we like to call the Chickichanga®. No, it’s not a Spanish dance style. It’s a delicious combination of whipped eggs, spicy chicken and homemade chorizo sausage. Or maybe take the lighter side of lunch for a spin with our fresh Cobb Salad paired with something from our Fresh Juice Bar. Are you hungry yet? Q: Does First Watch have any low-fat or gluten-free options?

A: We sure do – here’s the skinny! For our friends with dietary restrictions, our “Healthier Side” menu features a variety of delicious options, including egg white omelets, our granola bowl and our signature Power Wrap™. Q: How long has First Watch been around?

A: We opened our first restaurant in 1983 in Pacific Grove, California – a place renowned for all things healthy, natural and most importantly, fresh. Our first restaurant quickly became popular and kept growing. In 1986, First Watch left one sunny state for another, making a cross-country move to Florida. Our headquarters has been located in the Sarasota/Bradenton area ever since.

Q: How many restaurants do you currently operate?

A: One. Although, we do have more than 195 First Watch restaurants along with the brands we operate like The Egg & I, The Good Egg and Bread & Company spread across more than 26 states. We don’t consider ourselves a chain. Instead, we like to think of ourselves as a network of neighborhood restaurants serving one customer at a time – Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch of course. Q: Do I need to make a reservation?

A: Actually, we do not accept reservations. Most of our First Watch locations utilize an app called NoWait, which will allow you to check our wait times and add your name to the list before you arrive! However, if you’re dropping by with more than seven of your best friends, we recommend you call ahead. That way we can do our best to prepare for and accommodate your party. (No promises though).

Q: Is First Watch involved in the community?

A: We are, and we’re proud of it. Whether we’re raising funds for our local schools, cheering on youth sports teams, or cooking up pancakes for half marathon runners, we love to give back to our local communities. Got a cause you’d like to share with us? Tell us about it here.

Q: Do you offer gift cards?

Q: Can I purchase the artwork on display in your restaurants?

A: Hey, we’re glad you dig our artwork! But sorry, it’s not for sale. The artist has been commissioned by First Watch under an agreement whereby neither the artist nor First Watch will sell the artwork.

Q: How do I get a First Watch in my town?

A: We choose potential First Watch sites using a complex scientific formula that evaluates a dizzying number of very important factors. We’d explain it, but it’s very, very complicated. Q: How can I franchise my own First Watch?
